Server Address & Port
213.170.135.124 : 8154
Tap to select ยท you'll need this in Part 3
Xbox locks multiplayer off for kids' accounts by default. This unlocks it.
- On your phone or computer, open a browser and go to account.xbox.com/settings
- Sign in with your (the parent's) Microsoft account
- At the top of the page, switch to your child's profile
- Find the tab called "Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety"
- Set these two settings to Allow:
ยท "You can join multiplayer games"
ยท "You can play with people outside of Xbox Live"
- Click Save at the bottom of the page โ it's easy to miss!
- Wait about 10 minutes for the change to kick in
Xbox doesn't let you type in a server address directly. This small trick adds that ability. It's safe, widely used, and easy to undo.
- On the Xbox, press the Xbox button on the controller
- Go to Settings โ General โ Network settings โ Advanced settings
- Open DNS settings and choose Manual
- Primary DNS โ type: 104.238.130.180
- Secondary DNS โ type: 8.8.8.8
- Press B to go back. It will test the connection โ should say everything is fine.
Done! That's the only Xbox setting you need to change. Nothing else is affected.
- Open Minecraft on the Xbox
- Press Play, then go to the Servers tab (swipe all the way right)
- Click on "The Hive" (or any of the big server icons)
- A special menu will pop up instead โ choose "Connect to a Server"
- Type in:
ยท Server Address: 213.170.135.124
ยท Server Port: 8154
- Give it a name like "Our Server"
- Turn on "Add to Server List" so you don't have to type it again
- Hit Submit โ and you're in! ๐
Next time it's even easier: Open Minecraft โ Servers โ click The Hive โ pick "Our Server" from the list โ Connect. Takes 10 seconds.
๐ง Something not working?
"Multiplayer is disabled" or greyed out
Go back to Part 1 and double-check the privacy settings. After changing them, sign the child completely out of Minecraft and back in.
Clicking The Hive just loads The Hive normally
The setting from Part 2 didn't take effect yet. Try these one at a time:
1. Restart the Xbox and try again.
2. Go back to DNS settings and try this address instead: 134.255.231.119 (keep secondary as 8.8.8.8).
3. If that doesn't work either, your internet may need a different type of address. In the DNS settings, look for an IPv6 option and enter:
2001:19f0:4009:4126:5400:00ff:fe22:0d52
"Unable to connect to world"
The server might be offline or restarting. Check with us first before changing anything!
โฉ๏ธ Want to undo everything?
Go to Settings โ Network settings โ Advanced settings โ DNS settings and switch back to Automatic. That's it โ everything goes back to normal.
